and that ladies and gentlemen, is how you do ice week. our group members were a bit in shock when they called our name, but i kinda figured our presentation was better than most others we saw - the only thing we may have messed up was the question/answer section, but that's okay. its good to know that after all the time and effort spent on it, we actually got something to show for it. and i dont mean winning, i mean the 10/10. ah well, good experience. pwnage.

finally

last day of ice, about time! woot woot. didnt really change much stuff, our ppt is essentially the same - i fixed a couple of slides up, and added a sick feature at the end that'll hopefully impress the board. hopefully they wont be too tough with the questions... eh anyways im off to school now, gonna practice a bit before meeting the group. eeeeeeeeeez.

so ice week isnt over yet, as we've made it to the finals.. so have to present again tomorrow to an external board. more group meetings. see ya later.

decent presentation, not bad at all. handled most of the questions fairly well. wow. done. over. woot woot. nothing left to do.. well unless we make finals. im fairly satisfied with how things went. now.. what to do..?

wow

an incredibly long day again, 11 hour group meeting putting the powerpoint together. i spent an insane amount of time on it, im so exhausted. our group clashed a bit today, but i spose thats to be expected. i just feel drained still. only got about 4 hours of sleep last night, and havent eaten since 12. welps, tomorrow morning is presentation time. we keep saying we hope we don't make it to finals, cuz we dont want to meet anymore, but i think our stuff might actually be strong enough to make a run. is that good or bad? ehh i guess we'll see tomorrow. see ya on the flip side.

well, just got home from an exhausting day on campus. try a 16.5 hour group meeting. we're done the report now after a crapload of editing.. onwards to prepping the powerpoint tomorrow. as for now, im just relieved to be done the main report and my soc term paper/presentation as well. things can only go up from here... right?

again, long day. still going. met with the group earlier today, got a meeting in about ten minutes. found out some stuff from other groups about perhaps what a certain prof is looking for, so gonna change some stuff up in our layout. its tiring. incredibly tiring. was working on the soc paper this afternoon, 15 pages still going on now.. almost there. ALMOST. 41 hours til the report is due. then comes prepping the presentation. wheeeeeeeeeee. over n out.

long day today, met with the group, got a little bit done but really, it was pretty unproductive. tough day. everyone went home early to work on our own, so its still taking a while. financials are done, i havent checked over them yet though. most of our analysis is coming together, tomorrow is implementation day. man im tired. and a bit stressed. and i still have this soc paper looming over my head...

met with the group for about 7 hours today, right in the middle of that was a 2.5hr Q/A session with the company CO. definitely took a while, but things are moving along slowly. gonna get most of the analysis stuff done today, and move on from there tomorrow morning. the group is coming together slowly, i mean we're all pretty cool as to who does what, no one really cares about workloads, people are offering to do stuff, so in that respect things are working out okay. group dynamics, also slowly getting there. just gotta plug thru another few more days. we're aiming for the magical 8.2 mark (an A). wheeeeeeeee and off to work i go.

well, im officially well into ice week. got the case today, read overit, and probably gonna read it over again tonight before i go to bed. meeting with the group tomorrow at 12, then q/a with the ceo at 3. its actually a pretty long case, not really sure which angle to approach it from, many different ways to attack this. but at least it's fairly straightforward - the company needs to grow. im feelin fairly okay about this, im trying to think up some multimedia cuz the group doesnt know much. okay. 84 hours to go. lets do this.

hell froze over

so you know that expression 'when hell freezes over'? by my own interpretations, today is that day for me. my insane week ended today, finishing off 3 presentations and 3 assignments due in a 4 day span. but this 'hell week' of sorts has frozen over now, with the introduction of ICE week. (get it, ice?) ICE stands for integrated case exercise, and its the big bba week that everything leads up to during your first three years at laurier. classes are cancelled for the week, and you're to solve a case with your group, whom i met yesterday. my group seems okay, only 4 people, no finance or accounting ppl so we'll have to manage a bit there. anyways im looking forward to this week, also a bit nervous, but we'll see how it goes. i'll try to keep a running diary of sorts so you guys know what goes on during ice week, especially those of you in your 1st and 2nd years here in the laurier bba program. til next time, enjoy!

well, reading week involved minimal reading and maximum relaxation - lccf retreat started it off and it was a good time, God's definitely up to something in our fellowship. Definitely lots to reflect on and think about. Also got to see ppl like kenf and jliu and start rumors and send condolences and a whole bunch of other wacky stuff. but here i am back in the loo, busy until easter, trying to fight off what dan calls bronchitis. hope you're all keeping up with the schoolwork and your lent and all that other good stuff. i broke my lent, but im gonna try my best. heres a link passed on by a friend - check it out, even if you're not a bball fan, this is some really good stuff: http://www.whudat.com/realtxt/kg_allstar2005.ram

im giving up reading any sort of sports websites or fantasy sports forums during the day or night - i will only be checking my teams once in the morning before classes to set my daily lineups. this may seem like a stupid thing to lent, but really it takes up way too much of my time. i'll hopefully be using this time to finish off a couple of books i've started, namely piper, which i've been on for 3 or 4 years now.

class is.. fun?!

So I'm enrolled in a monday night class here at Laurier, SY333 - The Sociology of Human Rights. You might remember last term I was complaining about my soc class and how it was incredibly boring, etc. Well this class happens to be modelled after that same prof, who, thankfully, is not my lecturer. The thing is, this class is actually quite interesting and leaves me thinking a lot, which goes to show that the subject matter wasn't the problem last term, but it was strictly the prof. Anyways, in our first class we watched a video called The Corporation. This hit close to home for me cuz I was probably the only student in the class who was majoring in business, and I would suggest that most business students take some time to watch this short documentary (only an hour long). It shows the history of the corporation and some of the atrocities that have been committed in the name of capitalism, or furthering the economy, or simply in the pursuit of more money. It's kinda Fahrenheit 911-ish, so if you didn't like that you might not like this; but still I would recommend it to you, especially if you're studying business.

Last class (yesterday) we watched another film called Bitter Paradise, which was about the Indonesian invasion of East Timor, and more specifically, Canada's involvement in the whole process. Pretty shocking stuff. Later we broke into small groups to talk about it, and one guy was saying how Canadians are always bashing Americans whenever we watch those Fahrenheit 911/Columbine movies about Bush, etc, but this was a case where there was no one to point the finger at but ourselves. Another very good documentary I would recommend (again an hour long), but there's some pretty graphic images which might be disturbing to some. Anyways I left class with a lot on my mind, just thinking about the way the world works and some other thoughts of social justice, etc, and more importantly how to make a difference or even bring awareness to these things.

laurier is fun!

so it was back to school for another term, and first week back was pretty good! besides the fact that i think im getting sick (dan says its psychological whenever i go back to the loo), it was quite enjoyable. james/angie came up to visit along with heidi and warren, and momo and kk came up to lccf as well on wednesday. tons of laughs, and good random times. good having a chinese crowd wandering around campus, loitering in the halls, etc. just being randomly loud and crazy. especially nice having ppl like momo take a glimpse into life at lccf, especially since we talk about ccf stuff so often, it's like he finally got a picture of who we are and what we do. anyways, im back in toronto now, for the weekend. hehe laurier is fun, but toronto is home :D
