sometimes we think we're so secure, and we're doing good, but are we really just fooling ourselves? its a very dangerous thought when we start to think that we're okay and we don't need God. truth is, we need God each and every day, probably more than the previous day. and until we realize that simple and unmistakable truth, we're never going to change and grow as people.

thoughts on the vc trade
well this isnt really like me to blog about basketball stuff, but i guess since most of my readers are TO centered anyways, and people seem to be talking about it, i'll post my opinion. first thing, i don't see why everyone's so down on the trade. its like just cuz you haven't heard of these players before, they must suck. well, thats not quite the whole picture.. as for me, i really like this deal. it shows how vince's value has dropped considerably, but i still think we made out huge in this deal.
1. vince didnt want to play here anymore, and he wasnt even giving like 20%. anytime you can get 2 (TWO) first round picks for a guy who gives 20%, i'd say thats a steal.
2. eric williams. this guy is a true professional, a great locker room guy. he knows when to speak up, and when to shut up and just play ball. he'll do a lot more for team chemistry (which they desperately need) than what shows up on the statsheet. he may not be a certified winner, but he knows his role and helps others find theirs. you need a guy like that on the team.
3. old man zo. when my bro first heard of this trade, he asked 'isnt zo dead?' well, hes a raptor now. he wanted to go to a contender, and he will - once the raps trade him. hes got 3 years and 17.6M left on his deal, so im sure some playoff bound teams in the west like the spurs or wolves wont mind taking on a solid big man with an expiring contract. so we'll probably get a 2nd round pick in return, id imagine.
4. frontcourt depth. so these guys are definitely not all stars, and im not trying to play them off like they are, but they do give us some depth up front. anytime you're relying on guys like pape sow, rafael "i wonder how many fouls i can get" araujo, and jerome moiso, you know you're in some trouble. there's no way guys like these can compete with other (qualified) nba-ers.
5. take advantage of a NJ marketing move. they say this move was just to free up some $ for the raps? well, maybe, but at least we get some picks out of it. the nets, however, have now the most SFs of any team in the league it seems. sure vince can play the 2 guard with kidd at the 1, but look at their guys up front. collins, scalabrine, and krstic. they're going to get destroyed by any team with a semblance of a frontcourt. that includes the raptors (wow). so why make this move? perhaps so kidd will stick around, but i think more likely, its so they'll have some marketing room to play with when they move the team to brooklyn. even if kidd leaves, vc will generate enough attention to bring in ticket sales. smart move by NJ management on that front.
So yeah, we're building the future around bosh, surrounding him with some vets (zo would be a great tutor for bosh if hes healthy/happy), and get 2 first round picks next year, with probably a lottery pick of our own. i'd say thats a good start. also free up some cap room to probably make a run at someone next year, ie allen if he decides to leave seattle.

erf??
not really sure what this blog is about, i guess just a few things that have been going on: mainly i want to talk about last friday, we took a road trip with the guys down to niagra, and went on a crazy dark nature hike. haha we went down to the glen; so picture this, in the middle of the night climbing rocks and taking pictures in caves. just a great time, then we went all the way down by the water and it had just gone out so the rocks were still wet, but there we were, under a full moon, just standing there amidst all this. it was pretty awesome. great time bonding with the guys, etc.
heres a pic where dave myself and ej [l to r] climbed this high rock cliff thing cuz we thought it'd be neat to get a shot from below with our shadows in the moon.
and now for some randomness.
these past few weeks have certainly been enjoyable. 1) i've started listening to a lot more music again, and those that talk to me often know my current tastes right now.. 2) trying to cut back on coffee, but not exactly working cuz timmys is everywhere on campus :D 3) today was my prof evaluation for that soc course, i totally tore into him and gave him the worst possible mark, including scribbling on the bottom something to the extent of 'worst prof ever'. seriously, the guy has to learn how to teach. 4) jer has got me onto ebay again, its so bad, we'll be like, okay its time to study. and then a few minutes later one of us will send the other a link to another item over msn. hilarious. 5) the rice reinforcements have arrived. 28 pounds to go. we've already done like 35lbs so far this term. i wonder what the record is, per school term? 6) along with that last one, if any of you kiddos want dinner during exams, lemme know. rice + water = dinner of champions! lol really though, the offer is there.
so like i always say, this term passed by so quickly (it's true though). really great time building up relationships with people and just generally enjoyable experiences all around. last night at ccf it was encouraging to hear some of the things that God has been doing in people's lives. its going to be different next term, but hey, thats a good thing, and im excited about what God will be doing. and so i'll leave you with this thought from tomlin's new one:

i dont feel any older..
well then thank you to everyone who sent their birthday wishes, it was very much appreciated, and to those wonderful ppl who took time out of their busy lives to make room for me, again, many thanks. you guys are all pretty dang special.
anyways, i went back home this wknd, which was great cuz i havent been home in a while. i had a lot of homework to do but i didnt do any of it. OH MY. which is why i stayed up until 4something last night doing work. OH MY AGAIN. which is why i've surpassed my suggested coffee intake for the week already and its ONLY MONDAY. which is why im typing really really really fast now and i need to sleep but i have night class so i won't be sleeping for a while. OR WILL I. so what did i do this weekend? well i went to go check out vaughan mills. it was fun times. a lot of clothes. a really scary troll girl. and tons of people up every possible wazoo imaginable. there is indeed some pretty cool stuff there though, which is definitely worth seeing. i'd advise you guys to bring a)cell phones so you can find your friends b)comfortable walking shoes c)minimal friends so its faster and d)a sack lunch.
what else did i do? hung out with some good friends and had some fun times, especially when we found out that dan lee is our new uncle cracker. i dare YOU to run, daniel.

the little things
Those who have abandoned themselves to God always lead mysterious lives and receive from him exceptional and miraculous gifts by means of the most ordinary, natural and chance experiences in which there appears to be nothing unusual. The simplest sermon, the most banal conversations, the least erudite books become a source of knowledge and wisdom to these souls by virtue of God's purpose. Ive been reminded again of the importance of seeing God in the little things, and im just now starting to get a glimpse of his grand design. Its amazing how God can use such unimportant things to his glory. Only God can take contact lenses, pen caps, and pears and turn them into something meaningful. So keep your eyes open, and be sensitive to God's shoulder taps each and every day. Don't rush by, you just might miss something divine.

it's been exhausting. i cant even imagine what it must be like to be in boston, and be a lifetime fan. but they did it. frickin i dont know how but they did. if you watched this series and couldnt appreciate it, you're not human. you say baseball is boring? YOUR FACE IS BORING!

TEH BLOG 4 U
so people have been saying that my blogs have been suffering in quality, that they're pretty much things that everyone already knows, blah blah blah. and theyve mentioned that my blogs have gotten boring and i've been losing a large part of my market share. riiiiiiight. apparently you have been waiting in anticipation for this very moment, that is.... TEH BLOG 4 U!!!!! now since i'll be blogging about something that i've only told to shar, it is guaranteed to be new-found information. who knows, you might laugh, you might cry. but one thing is for certain... you will be amazed by TEH BLOG 4 U!!!! [i should just ctrl-c that] anyways without further ado... i give you.. TEH BLOG 4 U!!!!
as some of you may know, im going for a sociology minor and one of the courses im taking this term is SY214 the sociology of crime. now this prof is SO STINKIN BORING. i was bored in class and so i timed how long he waited between sentences and guess what it was... 4.5 to 6 seconds EVERY TIME. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! can you even imagine how annoying that is?!? and he talks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLY. hes killing me softly with his words. MEGADEATH. not only that. sometimes he just PHASES OUT. like the other day for example he put up an overhead and HE STARED AT IT FOR LIKE 30 SECONDS WITHOUT SAYING ANTHING. do you know how awkward 30 seconds of silence is!??! can you even sit in your room for 30 seconds without doing anything?!?! GAHHHHHHHHh. anyways the capper came on thursday... he had us READ THE TEXTBOOK, OUT LOUD, IN CLASS. OK CAPS LOCK IS NOW ON GAHHHHHHHH. READ THAT AGAIN, AND I WILL BOLD IT FOR YOU. HE HAD US READ THE TEXTBOOK, OUT LOUD, IN CLASS. HE SAID THAT CUZ WE WOULDNT READ IT AT HOME, WE WOULD READ IT TOGETHER IN CLASS. QWEGOIJASOEGIJASG. AND SO WE WENT AROUND THE ROOM, STANDING UP AND READING THE TEXTBOOK. AM I IN A BIBLE STUDY???, I THOUGHT. WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS HE THINKING. WHY AM I PAYING FOR THIS CLASS. a lot of things to say really, but not really feelin like saying any of it. said bye to ppl today, including jo ken and of course james, which was a little tough. still, see you all in a lil bit. guess it's time to go back to loo life. it's been a really different summer, but one of the more enjoyable ones. it was great seeing some old friends again, and it's true, those kinda friendships stick around forever.

one of THOSE blogs..
saturday i went with shar to a yamaha special gala concert at the living arts centre in sauga. it was a tribute to oscar peterson, and basically a whole bunch of yamaha ppl performed, along with some more established talent. Sharon accompanied this kid and his quasi-dance piece, which was okay. the hilight of the evening was the showcase artist, hiromi.. when she first came on, she played this jazzy little rendition of happy birthday while we all sung to oscar peterson, which was awesome. then she totally funkified the rest of her set, one of my favourites being kung fu world champion. jeez my mouth was just hanging open, just ask shar.. anyways she ended with a gorgeous mellow jazz tune and i just closed my eyes and was literally hanging on every single note she played. so good. afterwards the reception was quite nice as well, i learned shar doesnt like wine or good cheese. :D
yesterday we had a game against the harbs, which was okay. left it all on the field, including some of my skin, but came up a bit short. and likely, barring any unforseen changes, thus ends our season. had a fun year, and who knows about next year, i guess we'll see. i stick to my previous statements regarding lumas. officially, if lumas does not win the MAT award, i will not be playing in the ccsa next year. the tiny minimal good that is left in this league is all but embodied in lumas, and if they don't get the award, the league has to seriously consider what it's doing. nonetheless, all the best to everyone in playoffs.

hope you enjoyed the show
well, we're halfway through august and this summer is fast coming to an end.. only a couple more weekends left then its back up to the loo. i've been keeping busy with work, other than that, not much else. softball here and there, we've got two more games this coming weekend, and then maybe playoffs if we sneak in. been prepping stuff for lccf and trying to get things set for our fall term, and everyone's been asking are you excited to be going back to school. well, i dont think i am, just cuz i've never been a fan of the work, and lccf is going to be different this year with old faces gone and new faces arriving, but i can't say that theres not a little part of me that's anticipating what God's going to do this year.
other than that, ive been doing tons of worship practises for reblazed, which is coming up in a few weeks. if you could all let your high school fellowships know, that'd be awesome.

well, we're halfway through august and this summer is fast coming to an end.. only a couple more weekends left then its back up to the loo. i've been keeping busy with work, other than that, not much else. softball here and there, we've got two more games this coming weekend, and then maybe playoffs if we sneak in. been prepping stuff for lccf and trying to get things set for our fall term, and everyone's been asking are you excited to be going back to school. well, i dont think i am, just cuz i've never been a fan of the work, and lccf is going to be different this year with old faces gone and new faces arriving, but i can't say that theres not a little part of me that's anticipating what God's going to do this year.
other than that, ive been doing tons of worship practises for reblazed, which is coming up in a few weeks. if you could all let your high school fellowships know, that'd be awesome.

busy busy
so wow it's been a long while again, but what better time to blog than on a cool monday night. so a couple weekends ago was our church's summer conference, which was a good time. got to see josh again which was great, and got to play lots of 'name that tune', which sam and ken surprisingly dominated. talk about no lives eh. hmmm :) the speaker kent edwards was good, and if i didnt lose my notes i'd be reviewing them right now. haha
work has been good for me. last couple of weeks were pretty quiet just cuz my supe was on vacation, but today he came back and instantly i got a ton of work. its good to stay busy though, or else work really becomes a drag. i also really like my hours cuz i get to go in early and leave early. really the core hours that you should be there for are between 10 and 2, which is fine by me. i get in pretty early so im usually out around 4 or so, which is great, cuz i have the whole afternoon.. to do nothing. :D
other than work and summer conference, not much else has happened. we played softball yesterday and lost a tough game, we got beat pretty bad, and the umping was pretty ridicurous, but what can you do.. one thing i gotta say is that if u ever want to watch a softball game, go watch the lumas play. these guys are unbelievable; they truly embody the spirit of not just the CCSA, but of Christ. i swear i like watching them play as much as i like playing myself. if they dont win the MAT award im boycotting the league. gg guys.
lastly, ive been reading through 1st samuel lately, some really good stuff in there. i was reminded of God's holiness, and still how he loves going from ichabod to glory.

a whole day? just for.. caring?!
so this week was my first at my new job.. the place is flippin huge, and its total corporation. the ppl i have met so far are pretty nice, and the environment seems pleasant enough. i gotta say though, the colors are a bit drab. we need some more vibrancy in there. ha!
anyways yesterday instead of going to work, it was ibm's annual 'day of caring'.. so i hitched a ride w/ becca up to sauga to meet everyone else at gifts in kind canada. there we were put into teams, and we were told what to do.. packing gifts for children! we made these back to school kits for kids.. it was fun times. such a sweatshop haha we worked like dogs.. everyone was so sweaty and tired. but it was well worth it. there was a prize for the team that did the best, so all these old guys on my team were like all about ruthless efficiency. ie no time to go to the bathroom, doing work during lunch, etc. haha at the end, our team completed 540 some odd bags.. which equaled to 54 bags/person on our team.. the winning team had fewer total bags, but more bags per person. but since it was only like .3 bags off, they gave both our teams prizes.. so i got a cooler/radio. haha funny stuff, i gave it to james as his belated bday present. haha im so smart. or something. haha
afterwards, met up with jenbo!! got to see her new place, which i hear now has grass, and also her fat bunny. apparently she also told me that we gotta let spidey out more. and that putting him in the basement with no lights will make him.. sad. riiiight :D anways, hung around trying to think of something to do.. finally we decided to go to chapters to see if we could find something to burn our encounter gift certs on.. didnt really find anything too interesting, except a jokes book of answers. which really didnt make sense when we tried it out. so we left and got some ice caps, then jenbo drove me back to meet up w/ becca. thanks for the fun times budsy! remember, next time, agenda! haha have a fun time in hk. well, the drive back with becca was fun too, we had a good talk about some people and i think we're gonna have some fun with our friends haha. thanks for the ridessssss..

my life for the horde
well, another week done and done. summer is slowly creeping to a close. this wknd was pretty good, lots of fun in the sun, tons of skin cancer on the way, and finally, no nasty bruises to show off on monday!
as mentioned earlier, i finished up my job w/ mcw last thursday, and as of tomorrow i'll be starting a new position at ibm. God's definitely got my back, all through my life, but evidently this summer as well. im very thankful for this opportunity, hopefully it'll work out okay.
what else? summer conference is coming up in a couple of weeks, which should be interesting. our worship team is still working things out, but its a great group of ppl to serve with. im looking forward to that for sure.
oh and its all about war3. you know who you are. lets hit it up. every night. oh yeah baby.
