In Missouri, down by the Mississippi River, they have to constantly dredge the river channel in order to keep the boats coming in. They dump the sand on the river bank, making a fun, but very dangerous place for kids to play. When the sand comes out of the river bottom, it's wet and it creates a crust on top of the hills which sometimes collapses and the sand will swallow you up. Two brothers lived down by the river and one summer, went out to go play on the sand levy. Due to flooding that season, the levy broke in and the boys found themselves in quicksand. Following these events, the people came to rescue these two brothers and they found the younger boy first, buried up to his chin in the sand. He had lost consciousness so they began to dig frantically. When they uncovered him down to his waist he regained consciousness and the family, in hysterics, asked, "Where's your brother? Where did you last see your brother?" The little boy answered, "I'm standing on his shoulders."
