weekend!
woot the weekend is here, finally! what a long/busy week, glad its finally over. weird but the shortened week seemed busier than a normal week, maybe just more packed into fewer days. yesterday was so humid my goodness, today is much more cool and bearable. hopefully it levels out a bit or we're all going to be in for a sticky summer. hope everyone has a great one!

friday already
this week absolutely flew by it was ridiculous. wedding rehearsal + dinner + drinks last night was fun had a good time and actually made it down there in time despite a little bit of traffic. at dinner our waitress recognized us as playing in ccsa how random, funny thing is she asked are you guys playing again this year and it was dead silence. turns out no one there is playing this year we just all sorta looked at each other haha!
weekend has arrived and it should be a fun one, i think its gonna be busy so i gotta finish up some work tonight/tomorrow in between wedding + dinner. hope the weather holds up but for now it looks like we'll be getting some heavy rain on saturday, what a great long weekend haha! have a fun one!

wow fun jays game last night though it sucks that they lost, made the latter innings quite boring. best moments of the night were heckling arod and AJ (lol) and when jubsy got hit on by the old guy behind us. billio was krunked and was dancing all night and did a little spin move in the dome and almost bumped into a couple who were walking by, that was amazing. no foul balls this night, none even in our area, i think we were too close to behind home plate. woulda been easier if we were further down the 1b line.
gotta duck out a bit earlier again today to go to dawn/jon's wedding rehearsal. 5pm ftl lets hope there's minimal traffic, those dang tamils!

woohoo wednesday!
we're halfway through a busy week and i'm glad wednesday is here, we finished up a substantial portion of our report last night so the rest of this week (though still busy) at least won't be spent doing work all hours of the day. tonight we're heading down to the jays game, there better not be tamils blocking the roads.. protesting is fine but don't disrupt everyone else with an issue that is no more important than world hunger or poverty. there's injustice happening everywhere in the world but maybe we need to look at what is the best way (active or passive) to bring attention (and more importantly, change) to these issues.
ion, im going to call in to rog retention tomorrow disguising my voice as shar to try to get her a free txt plan. will be practicing my squeakiness tonight!

yesterday we had worship practice and joesies brought popeyes and lo and behold it was v's first time (ever) eating popeyes. it totally destroyed her it was awesome, she totally couldnt sing afterwards.. was experiencing shortness of breath, had to keep holding her chest while struggling to breathe properly, it was the greatest thing ever. popeyes > velsie hahaah. and the cure? we told her to go eat more popeyes (at least just the skin)! good times lol i dont think shes going to eat fried chicken for the next year or two..

whoo the busyness is piling up now tons of work to do these next few days but the evenings are booked up, i am seriously contemplating pulling an all-niter though i thought those days were pretty much done after university. i'll see how much i can get done tonight after work first and gauge how it goes from there.
in other news, yesterday marked the opening day of et's silent auction. there was lots of... interesting.. items up for bid. i realized its much more fun putting down other ppl's names as bidders, like bidding on an A/C for xen or a vaccuum for amy. my favourites were the russian hat (a la seinfeld), box of shrooms (which amy bid for), and handmade cards that dani made for her mom (she was actually selling the card-making service, not the actual sample cards but everyone thought otherwise). anyways i put in a bid for a BJ dvd but i was promptly outbid by uncle benly i'll just snipe it next week at the end.
yesterday was also the third consecutive week xen and i have gone to ibrahim's for schwarma. it was GTG yesterday (not overly salty) and even though they had a n00b making ours it was very tasty. maybe we'll go for the four-peat next week hmm.

friday woohoo!
man friday afternoon's are just about the greatest time of the week, your brain is already checked out and you're just couting down the minutes until you can take off. the only thing that would make it better if it was long weekend, which comes soon! any suggestions on where to go next weekend?
tonight is et's coffeehouse, interested to see how it'll turn out. i still remember whoa about 8 years ago when we did a coffeehouse for daniel fellowship it was like one massive skit. i also remember just listen which was like another 3-4 years before then. heyx5 what is going on in here its been 11-12 years since just listen?! egads!

zzzzz
man i could go for a nice nap right now, holy smokes. past few days i've been getting to bed earlier and earlier but still so exhausted in the mornings, this is no good. i think its time to reinstitute the afternoon nap sessions!
these next 2-3 weeks are going to be busy, school is ramping up and summer festivities have arrived as well. everyone hang in there!

okay i was gonna blog about either h1n1 or jersey boys, but i'll stick to the JB and save swine for another day. shar and i went to go watch it yesterday and it was a great time, even in that crappy weather (not like its outdoors anyways). the whole show is very high energy and i'd recommend it for sure. but lets switch gears and talk about the people who go to see these types of shows.
1. parents who bring kids. JB is advertised as containing lots of 'colorful authentic jersey language' as they call it.. i was pretty shocked that lots of parents brought their kids there is some language that is clearly not suitable for children especially shrimpy ones lol.. the kid in front of us kept diving into his mom's shoulder when an f-bomb was dropped or during the s3x scenes, poor guy. worst parenting ever! maybe its cuz they couldnt find a sitter or somethign but dude just leave the kid somewhere dont bring them!
2. sicklings. okay this guy in line friggin had sars + swine + ebola all rolled into one he was hacking and wheezing in front of us and his face turned red then purple and it was so gross.. buddy if you're not feeling well just get out of line and put a bag over your head when you cough you're gonna kill someone!
3. snappy old peeps. man the old people come out of the woodwork for this one, the avg age of the crowd was probably 55+ or so.. what i realized is that old people can be really snappy to each other, one lady in front of us got p.o'd at this old lady beside us and accused her of kicking her chair, which the other little old lady denied. they were going to tussle but the lady beside us ended up changing seats so nothing developed.. still old people need to relax it isnt good for their hearts to get all agitated over such little things
all in all a good time very fun date night made more interesting by these colorful characters.

you notice when you're running late you become so much more sensitive to everything that's going on around you, and it almost seems like every force in the universe is against you? i was running a bit late on my way to work this morning and it seemed like every car was going just under the limit, unable to make any lane changes, getting caught at every traffic light... i think i hit 3 yellow lights, and you know how quick my drive to work is already. everything becomes amplified and it just seems like every little thing is set at making you even later.
i'm pretty sure God doesn't do that on purpose, maybe some things in life just happen and there's no real rhyme or reason beyond that specific to your life. and maybe that's okay, cuz sometimes the universe doesn't revolve around you or me, maybe we're just a part of it all, a part of something way bigger than any of us individually.

waiting?
good sg last night had a discussion about jesus walking on water and a question that was asked was were the disciples in God's will when they were out in the boat? very interesting as all texts have jesus commanding the disciples to go into the boat immediately and cross over to the other side, but when evening comes they're not even there yet, they're just waiting or stalling or something. it also says jesus 'had not come to them yet' implying that maybe they were waiting for him before going.
how often do we do that, receive a very clear command from God but we stall and come up with excuses to wait when its actually very clear what he said. scratch that, how often do I do that.. i think there's some very clear commands that we've been given but sometimes we still sit on the shore waiting for Christ to come and give us a little push or to tell us more clearer.. he's already made it perfectly clear what he wants us to do, sometimes its better to just obey rather than stall and delay and make up excuses that we're just waiting to hear from God to make himself obvious.

nice talk with tim/jo about church last night, really good to see it from their perspective. i guess that's one good thing about a smaller church, you can actually sit down and talk to the leaders to see where they're coming from, it would be a lot harder at a bigger church. the two questions that still remain are where is our church at and where are we going, and to take it a bit more personal, where am i at and where am i going. a large part of that is alignment and fit (between the individual and the church), but perhaps theres something more innate and core at the bottom of it.

holy cow what a gorgeous day out! todays rant is about the folks over at weathernetwork. they keep postponing the nice weather all week long, one dreary day after another.. and finally when friday hits its absolutely gorgeous outside and they're calling for rain and thundershowers. way to ruin everyone's weekends, jerks!
on an unrelated note, what do you guys listen to at work (if you listen to music)? i'm going through a broadway phase now, its awesome. reminds me of that time we were singing wicked on our way up to see shanex2 in gdon's car loll

jays game
what a fun game last night, went down with some t2 people after work and after like a pitcher each at eastsides lol we were all very 'happy'.. made the game much more fun and i still cant believe jubsy got on the jumbotron with her homemade cowboy blue jays hat. we also pulled in two balls (one foul popup, one from aaron hill) and had a good time heckling BJ while yelling out 'we want barabas' and 'give us barabas' whenever rod barajas went up to bat rofl. ak kept yelling for batters to bunt but no one would do it but snider (stupid rolen!) in the end the jays gutted out a win in extra innings and the only thing missing from this nite would have been street meat boooo..

rich young ruler
i think i've finally come to an understanding of this passage - Christ doesn't care about this man's wealth, it's about his heart. Giving to the poor isn't the message here, it's more about whether or not we're following Jesus with our whole hearts, 100%, undivided.
came to mind yesterday during sg when we were studying the parable of the treasure hidden in the field - same concept i think.
of course, this may just be a cop-out answer..
