The past brings us to our present, and without it our present wouldn't be the same. So we take the good, the bad and the ugly, and we make the most of where we are at right now. That's called living the moment.

time..
You ever look back and really wish you'd done things differently? treated people differently? I wish I could go back and tell a younger me so many things about life, about not taking people or things for granted. But this is life, we're constantly living it, and that time has passed.
This totally sums up what i'm feeling..
Time, where did you go?
Why did you leave me here alone?
Wait, don’t go so fast
I’m missing the moments as they pass
Now I’ve looked in the mirror and the worlds getting clearer
So wait for me this time

shiloh
man its been a good couple of weeks lately. very good. i told myself that it wouldn't be so busy, that i'd have some time to rest and relax, but it's been busier than anticipated. it's been good though, spent some time with good friends doing random things, which is really what summer is all about when it comes down to it, right?
I mean in high school or earlier you tend to waste days away playing video games, watching tv, waking up at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. heck i know plenty of university kids who do that still! but these days, it's work until the afternoon, then spend time hanging out with different people. i even saw high school friends twice in two days. thats got to be some sort of record. andy and i even counted out that we saw each other for 8 days this summer, which is far more than it's ever been for any summer. on top of that, its been great hanging out with mui these days.
Softball is coming to an end as well, and yeah, we've been blessed with such an awesome team. way exceeded my expectations for the summer. even coaching little league was different than what i had anticipated, but its been a good learning experience.
Also met some frosh coming to wlu next year, and i'm quite pleased to say we've got ourselves a good group it seems. doing a bbq this weekend where hopefully more will come out. on tuesday, went with shar to see blue man group, which i'll hopefully post more about later on, but that was a stinkin awesome show.
anyways, to the title of this post. the word shiloh means place of peace, and I've been thinking that i needed that this summer, just a chance to relax and get back to my home, where i can be who i am.
i mean, we're getting older, soon we wont be playing so much softball, or hanging out watching sportscenter, or going to suprise parties. we're in this weird middle stage between longing for a childhood that's fleeting and having to work to pay the bills. so isnt this what being young, in a sense, is really about? But really, what more can u ask for in a summer? spending time with your girl, your friends and family, enjoying the summer days? this is my shiloh.

summer conference 05
well, this year's was a bit different from previous ones, for a number of reasons.
- it was at......... laurier!
- lots of free time.
- because it was at laurier, and because we had lots of free time, it really exposed waterloo for the stinktown that it is - theres like nothing to do there.
- i was sick and feeling gross so i slept for a lot of it.
- ken's our pastor up in loo. a bit of recycling, and he's definitely been better.
but yknow, even with all that and more, i enjoyed my time (as much as i could, anyways hehe). ken was very straightforward and clear, said some things that really stuck, like the one about ponder god's word, perform god's will, prosper god's way. i thought that was a solid message, even though it was so simple. also, it was fun playing football for a bit on the saturday before passing out lol. whenever you can get that many ppl to play barefoot its good times. another highlight? going on recon missions around wch, shooting imelda like 4 times, and ultimately killing our main target, albert. then the running from dlee. GEEGEES.
but when it comes down to it, it's about the people. its about guys staying up late to share burdens. its about knowing your girlfriend cares about you when she comes to hang out with you while you're sick. its about friends who are writing exams taking 'time' (read: procrastinating) to hang out with you. its about staying up later than you should, possibly getting sicker, just cuz you dont want to miss anything.
yeah, you experience God, but not only as individuals - rather, together, you learn the real meaning of community.

clear the stage
Anything I put before my God is an idol.
Anything I want with all my heart is an idol.
Anything I can't stop thinking of is an idol.
Anything that I give all my love is an idol.
We must not worship something that's not even worth it,
Clear the stage, make some space for the one who deserves it.
take a listen, last song.

8 hours of softball make justin something something...
extremely sore. saturday, twas a good day of softball though! lots of military drills, enough to make ppl nearly black out. haha good times. even a night exhibition game, which i truly love. something about playing under the lights. anyways i think everyone on our team has gotten hurt in some way or another so far, and we havent even had our first game yet. i scraped up my knee, so yesterday went to national to buy some sliding pads. i didnt get those big mizuno ones that are strictly softball/baseball, but i got these smaller ones that are like all-purpose heavy-duty sliding pads, they're so thick its hilarious. i cant even really move in them lol, but they offer so much padding haha..
my wrist is doing better. i dont htink its a sprain at all. joanna thinks its a tendon. who knows. willi has the same injury, and apparently it doesnt make any sense. all we know is that we have special 'pressure points' that if u press we'll start to die lol.. ahh painful. funny though. my left ankle is really weird too, i think i rolled or something on it, but i dont remember. ive been stretching it out at work all day yesterday and today.
anyways heres to a fun season, especially some fun games next weekend! woot woot! getting excited for em. what else? lccf stuff! met up with a few com members, things are slowly under way, yes. time is really flying by this summer, before you know it we're all back at school again erg. make the most of your time.
i've been reading thru the hitchikers guide to the galaxy series, finished up the first one a few days ago. started the second one, the restaurant at the end of the universe, yesterday.. pretty good so far. its actually quite amusing. enjoyable, definitely!
so ive been hearing a lot about batman, is it really that watchable? shar and i do tuesdays together, so i was thinking of whether or not to go watch it tonight, but i dont think we're going to. instead it might be wimbledon or hotel rwanda, who knows! i dunno, i dont think i was ever a HUGE batman fan. def. not my favourite 'hero' by any stretch. okay, this blog has quickly gotten irrelevant (as if it ever was relevant) - stay cool kids, hope you're having a great summer! yes YOU.

I can get used to this kind of 'work'
Yesterday was IBM Presidents Day Golf Tourney, for which I volunteered/was volunteered to help out. SUCH a fun day away from the office. The weather actually held up, we had some light drizzling but it was pretty gorgeous the rest of the day. The course is called Copper Creek, right by king side road and hwy 27. yeah thats okay, i didnt really recognize those streets either lol. its about a 5 minute drive from major mack/400. anyways, i gave myself ample time to get there in the morning, was sposed to show up around 10:30, so I left the house at 10. Perfect timing, got there a few minutes early.
We had a quick debrief, then they told us to grab lunch, oh jeez. all you can eat breakfast/lunch buffet. it was insane. so nice. so much good food. we were all very careful not to itis ourselves though. As we were finishing up, I was the last one at the table cuz I was watching my friends' stuff while she was using the bathroom, and who else but Thurman Thomas comes to sit down at my table. We chatted a bit, he's a pretty funny guy.
So the whole day was supposed to be an event that you could invite clients and customers out, sort of a 2nd quarter closing thank you. There were about 8 of us volunteers who were in charge of looking over a hole at which there was a specific contest. For example, on the first hole Matt Stajan was there signing hats and sticks, and you had a chance to win an autographed jersey. Carlo Colaiacovo was on another hole, as was Thurman Thomas and AJ Eathorne. So some volunteers were in charge of taking care of these athletes singing autographs at their holes, just making sure they had a good time. Others, like myself, were in charge of a hole on our own, with a contest to win prizes (trips, cars, memberships, etc).. Mine was a trip for two across Canada on via rail for a hole in one (par 3), and another shorter trip for the closest to the pin. So really they need us there to witness if anyone actually gets a hole in one, which no one did lol..
At any rate, it was a lot of fun just chatting to different teams as they came by the hole (32 teams of 4 in total).. LOTS of big names, presidents and ceos cfos cios vps of this and that my goodness. it was crazy. obviously none of them will remember my name, but thats okay, it was still a lot of fun. Mostly I'd tell them about the prizes, then tell them how the hole was playing that day, yardage, wind, etc. pretty fun. after each group left id repair divots, which a groundscrew guy asked if id done before cuz i 'looked like a natural' (WOW ME!). so if business fails theres a second option right there. golf course maintenance. haha.. of course there was free everything so every time the beer girls came around they'd offer us stuff (we werent sposed to have beer though) but it was a lot of fun.
some hilights out on the green?
- a guy asking me how far the distance was to the pin, I estimated a guess, then he pulled out his little GPS caddie and proved me wrong lol
- another guy taking like 3 mulligans cuz he kept on shanking em
- a guy taking a pee right behind the tee then taking his turn like nothing happened
- vp director at air canada swearing that he recognized me from somewhere, even after my constant denial
- driving golf carts all around the course
- a guy getting mad waiting for the beer girl lol
- lots of GREAT shots. also, lots of HORRIBLE shots :)
after we were all done I met back up with my friend, who was hanging around talking to Carlo and Matt, so I got them to sign a stick for me, also picked up an autogrpahed leafs hat. Carlo's a pretty funny guy, i told him hes the future of the Leafs, but I didnt say anything to Matt lol.. anyways Matt took off, so we were just chatting to Carlo for a bit, it was pretty funny cuz my friends from barrie so she knew ppl that they know, so they got her number and were like yeah lets hang out in barrie or if u come out to toronto. pretty jokes. And then Carlo wanted to get a beer with the two of us, and i was like yeah lets go, but then we weren't allowed to go back into the clubhouse cuz we were just sposed to grab food from the club shack outside instead. so that was too bad, as we had to turn him down.
Anyways, grabbed a hot dog and stella at the club shack, (man it was crazy everything and anything you wanted was free) chatted a bit with the other volunteers before they hit the links to get some holes in before the sun came down. I learned something pretty jokes, you know how in basketball everyone shoots for teams, and if u airball it you arent allowed to play that game? well in golf, if you're a guy and you fail to hit it past the ladies tee, you have to whip it out for the rest of the hole. (lol smo) haha i thought that was pretty funny, cuz one guy didnt know how to play and after that he didnt want to play lol :) anyways i couldnt stick around so i took off for the (seemingly shorter) drive home; all in all a really fun day out. cheers!

untitled blog
this is something new for me, this is one of those blogs where i just type, and i promise i wont use the backspace or delete key. its just gonna.. go. somewhere. thus, im sure that you can expect it to be super-random and quirky, probably with lots of jokes that no one will get and just general all-around weirdness.
i dont know why i feel inclined to blog. maybe just cuz it gives me a chance to get some thoughts and memories down. or maybe cuz ive been too slow with the journal lately, and this just seems more convenient.
so how was everyone's eweekendn?
i had me a good one. fairly good anyways. starting from last time.. erm.. thursday night we had a game against yellow team. and they beat us in the last inning. by 1 run. grr. collapsedd!! oh well. friday we had another game against green team, and we got beat again. another tough game. we played pretty well, but it just didnt turn out.. lost by 4 i believe. tough. friday night went with kena nd jamres to timmys.. well wendys and timmys later. did lineup. lots of fun times. making fun of ppl. among other things. HARHAR. heres to sma mo for not showing up G G. hahaha stop.
so saturday was the big opening day. we met up at crosby for pictures which was fun. and bbq too. after that we headed over to cnetenlal.. err.. centennial park for a game. it was against... silver! and finally, after 3 excruiciciai.. excruct.. excruciating difficult losses, we won our frist game of the season. MAN i cant spell or trype. this is horrible. time to slow it down a bit :) anyways, yes we won 18-5.. lots of stealing.. steal 2nd, third, then home a couple times too. haha good times. we ran wild, literally. good times. heres hoping we'll be ready for thursdays game too. tuesday practice, probably do some defnesive drills with thme. but really, good to get that first win under the belt. YES.

so i guess this random typing blog is just getting long instead of being random. time to random it up with a quick recap:
- what movie are you watching? uhhh... uhmmmmmm... errrrrrr..
- faye is so beautiful.
- dld new lifehouse. GG. G FRIGGIN G. (cant you totally hear me saying that?)
- i havent even checked who won last nights game. i'll do that right after this. i went to bed by 9pm. it was still light out!! crazzzzzzy.
- cookies and cream salad?
- FANTASY ET CCSA IS HERE!!! need like 1 more team. thats it. bri?
- juju, well done. YOU KNOW.
- heres to chfris and his bone crushing catch.
- i got bitten up the wazoo. but its still not as bad as others.
- everytime albert does somethings it s funny cuz i always expect the worst (remember egg toss 05?)
- 'killing' a seagull, then realizing it wasnt dead. rather, stoning seagulls. yeah you heard me. WHAT. deathtrap = goodteims.
- i need to find my badge...
- have you seen my badge?
- okay kids stay in school over out
this is something new for me, this is one of those blogs where i just type, and i promise i wont use the backspace or delete key. its just gonna.. go. somewhere. thus, im sure that you can expect it to be super-random and quirky, probably with lots of jokes that no one will get and just general all-around weirdness.
i dont know why i feel inclined to blog. maybe just cuz it gives me a chance to get some thoughts and memories down. or maybe cuz ive been too slow with the journal lately, and this just seems more convenient.
so how was everyone's eweekendn?
i had me a good one. fairly good anyways. starting from last time.. erm.. thursday night we had a game against yellow team. and they beat us in the last inning. by 1 run. grr. collapsedd!! oh well. friday we had another game against green team, and we got beat again. another tough game. we played pretty well, but it just didnt turn out.. lost by 4 i believe. tough. friday night went with kena nd jamres to timmys.. well wendys and timmys later. did lineup. lots of fun times. making fun of ppl. among other things. HARHAR. heres to sma mo for not showing up G G. hahaha stop.
so saturday was the big opening day. we met up at crosby for pictures which was fun. and bbq too. after that we headed over to cnetenlal.. err.. centennial park for a game. it was against... silver! and finally, after 3 excruiciciai.. excruct.. excruciating difficult losses, we won our frist game of the season. MAN i cant spell or trype. this is horrible. time to slow it down a bit :) anyways, yes we won 18-5.. lots of stealing.. steal 2nd, third, then home a couple times too. haha good times. we ran wild, literally. good times. heres hoping we'll be ready for thursdays game too. tuesday practice, probably do some defnesive drills with thme. but really, good to get that first win under the belt. i started (and finished!) tuesdays with morrie yesterday. its really the first non christian/school-related book i've read in.. years? haha no really, its that sad. speaking of sad, wow what a sad book (awesome link). it was really really good though, but.. man alive. MAN ALIVE. i recommend this to anyone who wants an easy read, its very good. very very good. but yeah, hopefully this is the beginning of more reading. mui has already recommended some more, are there any others that you guys recommend? lay it on me guys!

cc
on friday night, i wrote this:
I'm not too sure what to expect from CC this year. I need to be reminded of why I do the things I do, and I need to take some time to look and reflect on my own motivations and reasoning.
By saturday night, God blew my expectations away. God brought me to a place where I realized exactly what was wrong with my own motives and sinful desires, where I realized I made things more about me and less about Him.
On Sunday, we joined in holy communion together. As I've been sharing, it hasn't been very emotional, but rather quite logical and practical. As we were praying in the pit, I truly knew in my mind and in my heart that God's Spirit was there, and it was one of the most powerful times of prayer I have ever experienced.
The whole weekend was saturated with God's presence, everything from small groups to workshops to the sessions. It was great to be there with familiar friends, but also to catch up with old friends and meet some new faces.
And now, post-cc, how do we respond? I mentioned to a friend earlier, God is unchanging, regardless of our experiences of Him. So any 'less' of Him that we feel is not His presence fading, but rather our own minds being clouded by the things around us. So stick to what you know, and respond the way you know to respond - earnestly and honestly seeking of God and His will for your life.
Holy Fire burn away,
my desire for anything
that is not of you and is of me.
I want more of you and less of me.

the obligatory update
so what's been up? work has been going okay, just plugging away at the same ol' stuff. I'm starting to get more tired now, especially afternoons when the itis hits, which isnt too good. to combat that i've been eating my lunch a bit later so the itis doesn't hit until about 3ish, and by then its almost time to call it a day.
work has been going pretty well other than that. we also had our first little league practice yesterday, with half the kids able to make it. not bad, we've got some good stuff to work with, should be a fun season.
Illuminate is meeting today as well, first practice, as long as the weather holds up. should be a good one too.
on another note, watched spanglish with shar the other day. i liked it more than she did.. i'd say it was a pretty good movie.
i've been getting up early, even on wknds. can't really stop it. erg. only got 5 hours of sleep or less last night. erggg.
i've just realized how completely random this blog is.
my summer in a nutshell: shar, friends, lil league, ccsa, ccf stuff. blings blangs. sun it up kiddos.

warming up..
so after a week of pure frigidness, the weather is finally getting better and the sun is out for longer and it's getting much brighter. It's weird, I think seeing the nice weather from the office cheers me up some. You'd think that it'd make me wanna go outside, well yeah that too, but since it's so high I can't really see any people, just rooftops and blue skies, it's not really a distraction, more of a picker-upper. the weather's definitely warming up..
had dindin with hs friends last night, for steph who's off to jap for a year. good to see some more 'familiar' faces, and also some I haven't seen in a couple years. Good bunch, hopefully get to spend some more time with some of em this summer. i'm warming up again..
softball softball softball! not just ccsa (bleh!) but little league. kinda stoked, i think it'll be good times. really hope we have a good group of kids - should be very challenging. get the team list tomorrow morning along with equipment pickup, then probably start practices sometime next week. time to start warming up..
for those that are finally done exams, hope you have a great summer. lets make this a keeper. things are warming up..
Cause good things come easily and good things go
Feelings are these feelings I'm feeling
So I can't let the joy be depending on the sunrays

onto work
well, pretty good two weeks off between school and work on monday, just spent a lot of time with shar and friends, chilling and not doing too much. went to visit liuski a couple days ago in whitby, had a good talk (as much as you can talk with chipmunk cheeks) with him. yesterday got to get lunch with my 'mui' from hs, and at night shar and i went out with two other friends we hadn't seen in a while. so good times with old friends recently. been doing lots of thinking and reflecting these few weeks as well, just about the past year, and future post-graduation stuff. sorry for the lack of updates, i've actually started another blog which i'll post at daily, but its re: our fantasy baseball league haha so im sure you'd love to read that. if interested, www.ccbaramblings.blogspot.com - harhar :)
anyways as mentioned, work starts on monday, which to be honest im not totally looking forward to, but extremely thankful for, and so i know i'll enjoy it as much as i can. hope the rest of you start your jobs well, or for those still searching, all the best. make the most of your summers, enjoy!

total pwnage
so those of you that know me know how big into fantasy sports i am.. well basketball season just ended, and i FINALLY won a league. about time jeez. i was in two leagues this year, the usual roto one with some hs buds, and a 16-team H2H with other random church friends. since trash talking is totally acceptable in both leagues, i felt the need to gloat. im probably going to make this into a postcard and email it to all the league managers throughout the offseason reminding them :D

this is the roto league, best i've ever done this year, 2nd place out of 13..

heres the 16teamer, woot. i pwnd this league good lol

actually went undefeated in the regular season, and SWEPT both playoff rounds 8-0. YES. that right. this team was gross.
anyways, i know most of you wont really know/care about this, and those of you that do will probably be people i beat and be bitter, so i'll end off here with a satisfied HA, and hey, why not another, HA.
~until next time,
your league champion :)

random blog about randomness
so 3 exams done, two more to go (one today and one tomorrow). finance was butchered, rather I (emphasized) got butchered, the other two have been O.K. so far. haha O.K. lol too funny. so the studying has been going on in the 2nd floor of the liberry this year instead of the 6th, which i believe is a very good move for us b/c ppl are sorta allowed to be loud (ALLOWED TO BE LOUD???) on the 2nd floor. its been fun with you cool study kids, and you know who you are. sporsnet am 3-play has to be 3) setting up my desk to look like it was taken while leaving for 5 hours 2) making fun of anna mae 1) dan lee going to the garbage can, finding a USED tim hortons cup, and rolling up the ALREADY USED AND PRE-ROLLED rim to see if he won. WOW. HILIGHT OF THE NIGHT. TSN TURNING POINT RIGHT THERE.
in other news, been watching the office - what a funny show. i know SOME ppl out there watch it (GG GUYS) and those of you who don't need to start, its pretty good times. i wont divulge any inside jokes here, no point in wasting material on you :D
in other praiseworthy news, ive re-secured a job for the summer. GG GOD. sidenote. you rmemeber 'attitude check'? or 'God is good, all the time'? how about we go to tc and start a new one:
me: GG GUYS??
all: GG GOD!
me: GG GUYS??
all: GG GOD!
me: GG GOD?!?!
all: GG WTG GOD TTYL!!!
i think its got some promise..
softball? SOFTBALL?? any suggestions for a team name?
and one more random note, my cpu power supply fried AGAIN AFTER ONLY 2 WKS. my oh my. interesting. okay. back to kantian moral philosphy zzzzzzzzzzz..
